A bequest can deliver a specific gift to the Galveston Bay Foundation (“I bequeath to the Galveston Bay Foundation (Tax ID # 76-0279876), located at 1725 Highway 146, Kemah, TX 77565, the sum of Ten Thousand [$10,000] Dollars”). Or it can deliver a percentage of the balance remaining in your estate after taxes, expenses and specific bequests have been paid — what’s known as the residue (“I bequeath Ten [10%] Percent of the residue of my estate”). Alternatively, the Galveston Bay Foundation can be named as a contingent beneficiary if one or more of your specific bequests cannot be fulfilled.
