Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Galveston Bay Foundation, and they’re a vital part of the ongoing success of the projects that support the Galveston Bay estuarine system. By volunteering with the Galveston Bay Foundation, you gain valuable field training and experience in environmental conservation and restoration, earn service hours, have a team-building experience, and increase your knowledge of Galveston Bay.
Anyone can volunteer! E-mail email@example.com if you would like more information, and make sure to sign up for volunteer e-mail alerts below.
Join us at one of our scheduled community events! Volunteers enjoy participating in events like Marsh Mania, Trash Bash, Abandoned Crab Trap Removal, and more.
Water Monitoring Team
Conduct regular water sampling around Galveston Bay and perform chemical analyses, physical testing, and field observations. E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Dolphin Research Field Assistant
Assist with field surveys of the bottlenose dolphins that reside in Galveston Bay through our partnership with the Environmental Institute of Houston. E-mail email@example.com for more information.
Marine Debris Surveys and Nurdle Patrol
Get trained and participate in marine debris surveys to better understand what the greatest trash issues on our shorelines are, and help collect and report nurdles (small, plastic pellets, or plastic in raw form before it is manufactured into a product). E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Help teach students and families about the importance of the Bay and the environmental problems that affect it. E-mail email@example.com for more information.
Care for Pear the Terrapin
Help with basic care of our animal ambassador, Pear the diamondback terrapin, by helping with feeding, water changes, cleaning, and other care tasks as needed. E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Regular weekday and weekend opportunities are dynamic at Galveston Bay Foundation, occurring seasonally or on an as-needed basis. Please make sure to sign up to get volunteer e-mail alerts!
When you sign up for our volunteer alerts (above!), you’ll receive emails about volunteering for upcoming events and additional volunteer opportunities.
We do offer a number of options that are well-suited for corporate volunteers or groups like hands-on habitat restoration activities, shoreline cleanups and event support. E-mail email@example.com to get more detailed information!
We do, and the opportunities can vary. We sometimes need assistance with administrative tasks like organizing or shredding papers, and also like to get help with the care of our animal ambassador, Pear. E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to inquire about youth summertime volunteering.
Don’t worry, we may not have sent an e-mail yet! We typically send a volunteer e-mail every 2-3 months. If you suspect that an error is at fault, check your security settings to make sure our e-mails are marked as “safe,” or try signing up for our volunteer list again in case your original submission had a typo.
