REGISTRATION NOW CLOSED for the February 19th event, but you can still help! Read on to learn how.
From February 18 – February 27, 2022, Texas waters are closed to crab trapping. During this entire closure period, you can take your boat out on Galveston Bay to remove lost and derelict crab traps. You can also report any traps you find during the closure period on the Galveston Bay Action Network (GBAN) app! You can drop traps off at one of several established trap drop sites around Galveston Bay from February 18th-27th. Trap drop sites include:
TPWD Dickinson Marine Lab
Dickinson Bayou SH 146 Bridge Public Boat Ramp
Jones Lake State Ramp (Fat Boys)
Fort Anahuac Park by the boat ramps
Chocolate Bayou State Boat Ramp FM 2004
Stingaree Restaurant and Marina (Bolivar)
Christmas Bay boat ramp (at end of Amigo Lane)
Boaters: Download the Trinity Bay and East Bay Crab Trap Removal Program Operational Procedures, this is a great guide on how to prepare for and conduct a crab trap removal by boat.
