Vanessa Mintzer, Ph.D.

Vanessa worked for the Galveston Bay Foundation in 2006-2009 and left to pursue a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Ecology at the University of Florida. Then, in 2014, she began working with GBF as a consultant to establish the Galveston Bay Dolphin Research Program (GDRP) in collaboration with the Environmental Institute of Houston. In 2023, she formally returned to GBF as Director of Researcher. While her main focus is to continue GDRP’s long-term research on bottlenose dolphins in Galveston Bay, she also guides the development of GBF’s other research initiatives and projects. In addition to a Ph.D., she has a Master of Environmental Management from Duke University and a B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Florida.
