How successful we are in preserving Galveston Bay hinges on the willingness of our local community to step in and help out. Whether you’d like to get your hands dirty with a shore cleanup, help us raise awareness, become an advocate for Galveston Bay, or rehabilitate wildlife, we’d love to discuss how you can get more involved. Take a look at our numerous opportunities, or contact at 281 332 3381 for more specific information.
A membership gift of $35 or more allows you to join the Galveston Bay Foundation and a growing community of individuals, businesses and foundations who are dedicated to preserving, protecting, and enhancing our coastal community. When you adopt or name a Galveston Bay dolphin, your contribution goes directly to our Dolphin Research and Conservation Program. Our adoption kits make a meaningful and unique gift, and they’re a great way to raise awareness of issues facing native wildlife in Galveston Bay.
To keep Galveston Bay as clean as possible, we need all hands on deck. That’s why we created the Galveston Bay Action Network (GBAN), an interactive tool for reporting pollution in Brazoria, Chambers, Galveston, and Harris counties.
GBAN enables citizens to report pollution relating to sewage, abandoned vessels, discolored water, fish kill,
septic systems, trash and debris, and more. Once a report has been submitted, it’s then sent directly to the appropriate authorities to take action.
This project is funded in part by a Texas Coastal Management Program Grant approved by the approved by the Texas Land Commissioner pursuant to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Award No. NA17NOS4190139, and by a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency’s Gulf of Mexico Program Grant Number 00D43916.

In the Bay, a Cast is a group of juvenile crabs who make a significant contribution to the health and well-being of the Bay. Similarly, at Galveston Bay Foundation our Cast is a group of young professionals who raise awareness for the Bay and are leaders in conservation. Cast members participate in wildlife workdays, attend our important annual fundraising Gala, and enjoy many social and service events throughout the year.

Often companies will double — or even triple — their employees’ charitable contributions, increasing the impact of your gift. Some employers also match gifts made by retirees, spouses and board members.

Galveston Bay Foundation gratefully accepts gifts of land or other property. Such gifts are carefully evaluated in terms of formal land protection or resale to be used to further our ability to ensure the preservation of Galveston Bay. Donating your land to the Galveston Bay Foundation may qualify you for income tax deductions. You also might avoid capital gains taxes, and in many cases, achieve significant estate tax savings.
If you are considering a gift of land to Galveston Bay Foundation we encourage you to talk to us to plan for the maximum benefit of your gift. We strive to honor the wishes of our donors and want to facilitate careful planning to achieve your goals.
A conservation easement is a voluntary agreement between a private landowner and a land trust that allows the landowner to permanently limit the future use of the land. While ownership and use of the land is maintained by the landowner, Galveston Bay Foundation holds the “development rights” and agrees to ensure that the land is maintained in perpetuity.
Property owners can donate land for conservation purposes by a gift or through a will to guarantee that the property and its natural value will be protected forever.
Land without significant conservation value may be donated to Galveston Bay Foundation to be sold, with the proceeds used to support our ongoing programs. Trade lands can be any kind of real estate including homes, ranches, buildings, vacant land, or retail centers.
