Nurdles 101: Plastic Pollution and the Bay

10:00 am-12:00 pm

**RAIN OR SHINE! Activities will be moved indoors if there is inclement weather. Please wear a mask inside if you are not fully vaccinated.**

No registration required and all ages welcome! Just join us by 10:00am on Tuesday, July 20th at our Kemah office.

Nurdles are the raw plastic pellets that are melted down to make plastic products. They unfortunately end up washing up on shorelines all around the world and can be difficult to clean up. Join us at Kemah property to learn about this unique form of plastic pollution and how you can help us tackle this issue, especially during #PlasticFreeJuly.

We will conduct surveys (counting and removing nurdles) for Nurdle Patrol, learn how to easily enter data for this impactful citizen science project, and discuss how we can reduce plastic pollution around Galveston Bay. Please arrive around 9:45 am so we can walk down to the shoreline as a group. Bring a reusable water bottle, wear closed-toed shoes and sun protection. There is a water cooler to refill your bottle, as well as restroom facilities on site. All ages and abilities welcome. There is a 0.2 mile, full-sun walk followed by a ramp to access our shoreline.
