Courtney Smith has been with the Galveston Bay Foundation since March 2002. She has served in a number of roles with the Foundation, including Environmental Specialist, Habitat Restoration Coordinator, Grants Administrator, and currently, Vice President of Operations. Courtney has overseen projects such as Omega Bay Marsh Restoration, Dickinson Bay Island Restoration, Galveston Bay Marine Debris Removal, Community-based Habitat Monitoring, and the publication of the Drive & Discover Guide. She currently writes proposals for grants used to fund some of the Foundation’s restoration work, outreach events, and operating expenses; oversees the management of these grants; and handles some of the administrative tasks associated with non-profit management. Courtney graduated summa cum laude with a BS in Environmental Science from the University of Houston–Clear Lake, where she researched issues related to the state of Galveston Bay and participated in a low-water expedition on the Amazon River.
