About Adopt-A-Beach Cleanup

For more than 30 years, the Texas General Land Office has hosted Adopt-A-Beach Cleanup events along the entire Texas Coast. This all-volunteer effort is dedicated to preserving and protecting Texas beaches, including Galveston Bay shorelines. The Galveston Bay Foundation facilitates an Adopt-A-Beach Cleanup site at Morgan’s Point every fall in partnership with Port Houston, and nearly 200 volunteers remove thousands of pounds of trash from 1.5 miles of shoreline. Trash collected is documented on the Ocean Conservancy’s Clean Swell App, an app used globally by the public to collect and study trash findings across the many waterways and oceans of the world.
