IMG_4440Galveston Bay Foundation’s Guardian of the Bay Award Luncheon at Marriott Marquis Houston on November 1, 2017 honored LyondellBasell, Harris County Pollution Control and Eagle Scouts, Justin Rearick and Ryan Rinhart, for their commitment to preserving and protecting the natural resources of Galveston Bay.

Nearly 500 luncheon guests enjoyed keynote remarks by Research Professor of Geography & Executive Director of The Meadows Center for Water & the Environment at Texas State University, Dr. Andrew Sansom. He praised Galveston Bay Foundation (GBF) for its role in protecting Galveston Bay and discussed the necessity of continuing conservation work in Texas. He also highlighted how our planet’s future depends on getting children outside and interested in nature.

Master of Ceremonies Frank Billingsley, Chief Meteorologist with KPRC Local2, commented on the importance of protecting this important natural resource and encouraged luncheon guests to support GBF. GBF President Bob Stokes recognized luncheon chairs, Marla and Monty Briscoe, for their contribution to this year’s successful event which raised more than $300,000.
