The Galveston Bay Foundation invites you to join us in having a lasting impact on the future of our children and grandchildren by remembering the Galveston Bay Foundation in your estate plans with a charitable bequest or by naming the Galveston Bay Foundation as the beneficiary of any assets that transfer outside of probate such as an IRA account, 401(k), 403(b), or life insurance policy. Congress recently passed an IRA charitable rollover provision that allows donors ages 70 1/2 and over to make direct contributions up to $100,000 from IRAs. Designating GBF as a beneficiary or making a gift to GBF in your will enables you to maintain your lifestyle and commitments today while supporting the Galveston Bay Foundation tomorrow. Benefits of making a charitable bequest:
- Retain control of your assets during your lifetime
- Modify your bequest if circumstances change
- Qualify for estate tax savings to the extent allowable by law
- Enjoy membership in GBF’s Great Blue Heron Society
- Protect the Galveston Bay estuarine system for future generations
Sample Gift Language
A bequest can deliver a specific gift to the Galveston Bay Foundation (“I bequeath to the Galveston Bay Foundation (Tax ID # 76-0279876), located at 17330 Highway 3, Webster, TX 77598, the sum of Ten Thousand [$10,000] Dollars”). Or it can deliver a percentage of the balance remaining in your estate after taxes, expenses and specific bequests have been paid — what’s known as the residue (“I bequeath Ten [10%] Percent of the residue of my estate”). Alternatively, the Galveston Bay Foundation can be named as a contingent beneficiary if one or more of your specific bequests cannot be fulfilled.
