Volunteer Opportunities
Oil Spill Recovery | Bay Area Response Team
The Galveston Bay Foundation (GBF) is developing a locally-based volunteer response team for any oil spill that may impact Galveston Bay and nearby Texas coastline. This GBF "Bay Area Response Team" is in collaboration with the United States Coast Guard (USCG), the National Oceanic and Atomospheric Administration (NOAA), and the Texas General Land Office (GLO).
For the Bay Area Response Team, GBF is seeking general volunteers for tasks to assist certified oil spill responders. Volunteer tasks may include helping at the
Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, pre-impact beach cleanup and surveillance, administrative/clerical duties, basic needs and logistics, technical and medical needs, public relations, etc. By completing the form below, you will be a member of the Bay Area Response Team which may be called upon by the USCG during a spill incident (depending on the type and location of spill). Please stay tuned for future trainings.
Thank you for your support in protecting the Galveston Bay area! If you have any questions, please email GBF's Director of Community Programs, Julie Mintzer, at jmintzer@galvbay.org.
