Volunteer for Oil Spill Response

The Galveston Bay Foundation (GBF) is developing a locally-based volunteer response team for any oil spill that may impact Galveston Bay and nearby Texas coastline. This GBF "Bay Area Response Team" is in collaboration with the United States Coast Guard (USCG), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the Texas General Land Office (GLO).

For the Bay Area Response Team, GBF is seeking general volunteers for tasks to assist certified oil spill responders. Volunteer tasks may include administrative/clerical duties, basic needs and logistics, technical and medical needs, public relations, helping behind the scenes at wildlife rehabilitation center, pre-impact beach cleanup and surveillance, basic construction, plumbing, and electrical work, etc. By completing the form at the link below, you will be a member of the Bay Area Response Team which may be called upon by the USCG during a spill incident (depending on the type and location of spill). Volunteers will be periodically contacted to participate in events and training events.

Join the Bay Area Response Team!  Thank you for your interest in protecting the Galveston Bay area! If you have any questions, please email GBF's Director of Community Programs, Emily Ford, at eford@galvbay.org.
